![]() I have signed into my old version with 6.8.9 and it BY DEFAULT forces you to use the new Cloud-based 1PassWord vault, which you can then change after it has synced in the Options, so that it uses the Local Vault Only. I have tried their 15 Day trial and I just don't like their Cloud model being forced, I understand this is good for Data Retention and Backup purposes but simply running 1Password to your Icloud Drive does the same thing, more or less. I have only begun to add my accounts to the Local installation after many years of "owning" the software on the App store. If I want to open this vault anywhere else I am stuck using the Older version, which is no longer available from 1Password. My Version is 6.8.9 which still supports Local Vaults, but If I want to transition to another computer I am unable to do so without paying Subscription fees which I do not like. I still have 1PassWord installed and I have never Used it since the day I bought it, Locally from the App Store. ![]() If you don't mind subscription but don't want to deal with 1PW/Agilebits any more-Īll made by small time nearly only 1 developer Extensions, desktop, and smartphone apps. KeePassXC Uglist and most unintuitive password manager I saw but works, desktop only ( KDBX)Īll apps based on KeePass use same DB file format ( KDBX) and can sync with each other. Extensions, desktop, and smartphone apps: You can use your own storage but complicated to setup.Īll apps based on KeePass use same DB file format ( KDBX) and can sync with each other. ّ- Bitwarden : best FOSS imo but uses their cloud storage. SafeInCloud :Developed by 1 guy but seems popular StickyPassword : looks promising but never tried it and don't know much about it. I could be wrong but LastPass seems untrust worthy, I heard a lot of shady issues with them.Īfter much research, these are the better options out there.ĪgileBits is officially evil for me with dark pattern business behaviour.ĮnPass :near 1:1 replica of 1password, has license but I am scared they abandon it and turn evil in the future. Another thing is I want to store my password locally and not in the cloud, not sure why everyone is forcing a cloud account. I also didn't had an issue where if you have multiple accounts it will only auto fill the top one meanwhile 1password gives you the option to choose which one to use. I have already tried Bitwarden, its an option but the GUI is ugly that could use real work and the browser plugin is just too much imo. Please share your experiences with trustworthy password managers. I have already paid license which I believe was $60 twice for an upgrade making the total $120. I am fed up of subscription model and greedy companies that abuses it. Type a password for the new vault and click Continue. So as you know 1Password is forcing you to the subscription model which is something I refuse to pay for a simple piece of software that is basically a glorified password protected spreadsheet file browser. ![]()
